How did you feel your transition from high
school to Division I in Hockey East was? hard, easy? It
was difficult at first as it is a different lifestyle but I'm coming
along now.
How do you stay mentally strong? Staying
mentally strong is probably one of the most difficult things for an athlete.
I really try and focus on all of the positive things I
do and quickly try and understand and correct the negative things I do.
In your opinion, what is your strength in the game? My
speed/work ethic
Weakness? Confidence
How do you overcome your weakness? I've
always been my own worst critic, so I try and let up on myself when I
do something bad and focus on positive parts of my game.
What is the best piece of coaching advice
you have ever received? "Be
true to the game and the game will be true to you."
What is the most important skill for a forward
to possess in your opinion? I would have to say work
ethic.
What was your path to Hockey East? Played
all my hockey in British Columbia Canada. Played Cloverdale Minor hockey
until I was 16. Played Junior 'B' for the Abbotsford Pilots when I was
17. Played Junior 'A' for the Alberni Valley Bulldogs
until I was 20 and now I am here today.
What were you like as a youth hockey player?
standout? grinder?
As a young player I never had much talent, but I was always
one of the
hardest workers on the ice. I was able to increase my skill level with
that work ethic and I think that's what makes me the good player I am
today.
