PRO AMBITIONS, THE OFFICIAL HOCKEY CAMP OF
HOCKEY EAST
As a Hockey East alum, and current official hockey camp of
HOCKEY EAST, I am proud to have been and still be affiliated
with such hockey excellence.
I would like to share some of the highlights of this past weekend-The
HOCKEY EAST finals 2008.
Firstly a little HOCKEY EAST HISTORY... "Consistently
labeled the strongest collegiate conference" Hockey East
Division One college hockey celebrates its 24th season. Since
inception Hockey East has set the standard for college hockey
in all forums. Boasting the most alums to make it to
the NHL, academic excellence(the 2005-06 season Hockey East
honored 61 student athletes to its Hockey East all academic
team), community service(many Hockey East players have been
awarded the prestigious Hockey Humanitarian award).
THURSDAY MARCH 2OTH THE AWARDS BANQUET
The banquet was held at the Royal Sonesta in Cambridge. The
guest speaker was Red Sox announcer/NESN personality Tom Caron. The
room was filled with hockey excellence, players and coaches. It
was great to catch up with some old and new hockey friends. I
was honored to present The Rookie of the Year award to Colin
Wilson of Boston University, as well awards to the PRO AMBITIONS
ALL ROOKIE TEAM:
Paul Dainton(UMass - Goalie), Maury Edwards (UMass Lowell
- Defenseman), Kevin Shattenkirk (BU - Defense man), James
Marcou (UMass - Forward), Joe Whitney (BC - Forward),
James VanRiemdsyk (UNH - Forward)
FRIDAY MARCH 21ST AT TD BANKNORTH GARDEN :
BC THE VICTOR OVER UNH IN TRIPLE OVERTIME 5-4
In the longest semifinal game in Hockey East Championship
history, junior Ben Ferriero's deflected triple overtime shot
brought Boston College Eagles to the finals. It was an
evening full of school spirit with the college bands battling
and triple overtime suspense. It was great to see many
campers and parents at the game. College hockey is exciting,
inspirational and educational for young players to watch. I
highly recommend taking the kids to the games-my daughter and
niece were the ones behind the BC bench with signs waving the
entire time. It was a lot of fun to see my daughter as
well as many of my campers cheering for "their friends
and PRO AMB coaches!"
SATURDAY MARCH 22ND : BC TAKES THE TITLE OVER
UVM
The Cinderella story continued for Boston College freshman
goaltender John Muse (East Falmouth, Mass.) Saturday night,
as he stopped all 29 shots he faced en route to leading the
Eagles to their second consecutive Hockey East tournament championship
and third in four seasons, 4 - 0 over the University of Vermont.
