"The Induction Ceremony is our organization's
premiere annual event and draws a large audience every
year," stated Tom Champagne, NHLH's President. "In
addition to honoring those that have made a significant
contribution to hockey in New Hampshire, it's an opportunity
to catch up with old teammates, coaches and fans of hockey."
The NHLH Hall of Fame was established in
2001 to honor New Hampshire's hockey elite --- men and
women who have made significant contributions in New Hampshire
as players, coaches, officials, builders, or media representatives.
This year's inductees include the following, by category:
Coaches: the late Paul "Pop" Whalen
of Cornish, Wally Tafe Jr of Manchester and Dick Umile
of Portsmouth
Players: Andre "Pref" Prefontaine
of Manchester, Jeff Serowik of Dover,
MA; and Jon Leonard of Norrkoping, Sweden
Media: Bob Norton of Concord
This year's Ceremony will also feature
the history of ice hockey at Notre Dame High School, in
Berlin. Notre Dame won an unprecedented 19 NHIAA State
Championships along with 1 New England Championship before
closing in 1972
