When I played my first hockey game at prep school I thought
I was living the dream. When I played my first Hockey
East game at Providence College I thought I was living the
dream. When I played my first NHL game I thought I was
living the dream. Having my children, building my home,
Pro Ambitions Hockey, Inc., being the dad on the bench, taking
vacations with family and seeing the world, the little things
with my wife and children that make me smile every day are
all living the dream.
I just got back from a close friends wake-every day I saw
him....he told me he "was living the dream." He was a
great, charismatic, dad, husband, friend, businessman, philanthropist
and all around great man that truly was living the dream every
day. He was one of the Clair Motors auto empire brothers
that is going to be so dearly missed by so many people all
over the Boston area. When you bought a car from Clair-whether
it was a Mercedes, Porsche, family sedan...you were "living
the dream."
I wanted to write this article in memory of Mark Clair as
we should all live the dream.
Pro Ambitions Hockey, Inc. is about living the dream...
Over the years, I have received only few out of the tens
of thousands of emails and letters that asked how
I could give false hope to young players with the name Pro
Ambitions. It makes me think about people like that who are
truly not living the dream. In a million years when I
was shooting pucks on my driveway, or not being placed on the
level travel team in youth hockey that I aspired to, or all
the hours in the car with my parents early in the morning driving
to hockey did I ever imagine that I would one day play for
the Boston Bruins partnered with my hero, Ray Bourque or
on the first power play unit with Jaromir Jagr, Marty Straka
and Alexei Kovalev . It was a dream that actually
came true. I bet if you ask most NHL players they will
say that they never really thought that they would make it to
the NHL... Hockey really brings families together. There
are a lot of hours logged in the car on the way to games or
tournaments. I am now realizing that even these times
spent with your children is living the dream. Being a
part of a team is living the dream. Going on to playing
varsity high school hockey, college hockey and the pros is
also living the dream. Pro Ambitions Hockey, Inc. is
proud to boast that many alumni have actually made it all the
way to the pros contrary to the few skeptics I mentioned
earlier.
Keep living the dream!
Thank you so much.
