Noble and Greenough Varsity Hockey Coach Brian Day

Brian Day AAA Pro AmbitionsBrian Day enters his eleventh year at Nobles. Aside from being the head coach of the boys varsity hockey team, he also teaches economics and serves as the Class II dean. His passion, energy and understanding of the game have consumed those within the program. Since his arrival on campus, Coach Day has led the boys varsity hockey team to an unprecedented level of success. He graduated from Hamilton College with a B.A. in economics and from Columbia University's Teachers College with a Masters in Education. Jeff Serowik assisted Brian in coaching Nobles during the 2011-2012 season along side Mark Spence. Jeff and Brian and Mark quickly realized that their coaching styles complimented each others and decided to create this very exciting summer curriculum for the serious hockey player who as Jeff puts it is looking for that " summer hockey growth spurt." (To read more on the summer hockey growth spurt, click on the press page)  Summer is a time for unbiased sets of eyes to evaluate and train your child. A summer with Brian Day will be an invaluable time for your child to hone their hockey skills on the ice while training mentally and physically off the ice to sharpen their hockey IQ which is an integral part of the game. Brian and Jeff have built a six week curriculum that will teach, train, inspire and change your child's game.

We intend for your children to wow their coaches in the fall. Brian is a brilliant tactician and studies the game, he knows how to break it down and teach your child how to play with an edge and most importantly an understanding of the game at age appropriate levels. Noble and Greenough School recruits and produces the top hockey players in the nation. Graduates are playing in Ivy League, Division One and top Division Three Schools as well as in the National Hockey League. This is an exciting opportunity for youth players in the Boston area.

Noble and Greenough Assistant Coaches Mark Spence and Jeff Serowik

Mark Spence enters his fourth year at Nobles. Aside from serving as an assistant to the boys varsity hockey team, he is also a counselor within the school's student support program. With considerable training in sports psychology, he works with a number of our varsity captains and teams throughout the course of the school year. Coach Spence graduated from Middlebury College with a degree in Psychology and from Boston University with a Masters in Mental Health and Behavioral Medicine. Jeff is the president and founder of Pro Ambitions Hockey, Inc. Jeff played in the IHL league himself at Lawrence Academy, went on to Division One play at Providence College and onto the NHL.  Brian, Mark and Jeff have a great deal of knowledge to pass on to young players. Collectively creating a supercharged curriculum with Jeff's BATTLE CAMP curriculum at the backbone. Jeff looks forward to assisting Brian and Mark again next season at Nobles as a seasoned second year veteran.

Essence of Brian's philosophy

The essence of my philosophy is to let the game be the teacher. Throughout the course of this camp we will be incorporating numerous games and activities that will focus not only on skill development but how to think the game. Learning this early is such an advantage for young players.

These concepts will be taught on the ice and reinforced off the ice through chalk and video (smart board). The common denominator of all the great players that have come through Nobles and playing D-3, D-1 or NHL hockey is in the way they think the game, along with preparation and work ethic. The games we will utilize in this camp will encompass all game situations. Pro Ambitions Hockey, Inc.'s Battle Camp curriculum serving as the infrastructure. Fun while learning is the key to attending a great hockey camp.
